Samsung SGH-A227

August 30, 2008

The Samsung SGH-A227 is a simple easy to use phone for those on the lookout for their first phones. This is a flip phone with basic functions like making and receiving calls as well as messages.

While the sound and call quality of the Samsung SGH-A227 is not that great it can be satisfactory for those who just need the basic tool for communication. The very basic features are expected with the cheap price of $9.99 with service contract.

This cell phone is not a winner in the looks department though as it looks very traditional in basic black. It is however a compact phone measuring 5.5 inches in length, 0.79 inches in thickness and 1.76 inches in width. It only weighs 3.4 ounces.

You can store a maximum of 500 contacts including each contact’s email address and up to five phone numbers. You can however store 250 more contact using the SIM card. Choose from one of the ten polyphonic ring tunes and match them with your caller groups.

This phone has all the basic features of traditional phones like a vibrate mode, timer, calculator and currency converter. You also get a browser-based POP3 email.

Samsung SGH-T229

August 30, 2008

The Samsung SGH-T229 for T-Mobile is a camera phone but unlike its competitors it does not have the capability to record videos. This phone’s camera is also not satisfactory as the photos were of poor quality. However, this Samsung delivers quality call and has a speakerphone.

If you are using your phone mostly for sending SMS messages then the keypads and display would disappoint you. If there’s anything that will get your attention and will convince you to purchase this unique it is the bright red front flap although it would have been better if both the flap and the ear of the phone were done in red instead of donning the rear face in silver.

This is really a basic phone without sensational features but it is priced cheaply so those who are choosing their first phones might be satisfied with this one. It is sized just like the average cell phone at 3.6 inches in length, 0.8 inches in thickness and 1.9 inches in width.

While it does not have a photo ID to help you identify callers, it does have the capacity to store a thousand contacts including five phone numbers and the email address for each contact. You can also choose a photo as well as specific polyphonic ringtones for your caller groups. A saving grace of this phone is its Bluetooth and instant messaging features.

Verizon’s high-speed EV-DO network allows you to surf the net and get access to the multimedia services offered by Verizon. Motorola RAZR VE20

August 29, 2008

photocell.jpg

The Motorola RAZR VE20 for Sprint is the latest addition to Motorola’s RAZR line. Nothing exciting about this flip phone from its looks down to its features. However, it retains Motorola’s trademark of excellent phone voice quality even in noisy environments.

This 3.5 ounce phone has a wheel interface from which you can directly access Sprint’s service hot links. Battery life is is average with 5.5 hours of talk time. The 2 megapixel camera is average but it will do if you don’t intend to have your photos printed in large sizes.

You can call this phone a jack of all trades but master of none because it has almost all the basic and extra features present in modern phones but it does not boast of one excellent feature. Even the internet browser is very slow you’re better off just using it as a phone than for surfing the Internet. You can use the phone as an EV-DO modem which you can hook up to your PC to get Internet connection.

While the phone has a music player (in this case the Sprint Music Store), you would just be frustrated finding any of the songs in your player.
